LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark. -- In accordance with DoD guidance dated 28 Jul 21, all Service members, Federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask in an indoor setting while in Little Rock AFB facilities owned, leased or otherwise controlled by DoD.
According to the CDC COVID Data Tracker, Pulaski County is determined to have a High Level of Community Transmission, experiencing a 28% increase in COVID cases over the last week. This is due, in part, to the spread of the Delta variant, accounting for more than 82% of COVID-19 cases. On Tuesday, Arkansas' count of COVID-19 cases rose by 2,052, the largest new case total in a single day since February. Wednesday brought the largest number of active cases in Arkansas since February. Additionally, hospitalizations and use of ventilators are also at their highest levels since January.
The Delta variant is rapidly expanding, especially in areas where vaccination rates are low. The Delta variant:
- is more transmissible
- causes more severe disease
- results in higher cases of hospitalization and death than any other strain
The Delta variant is the NEW REASON to get vaccinated!
- Unvaccinated and partially-vaccinated people are at real risk and are 99% of the hospitalizations and death.
- Fully vaccinated individuals are protected from extreme cases that result in hospitalizations and death.
- The most important action beneficiaries can take right now to prevent the spread of this variant is to get vaccinated.
- Beneficiaries who have had their first dose are reminded to get their second dose.
