In September 2020, the 913th Airlift Group conducted a Strategic Alignment where squadron leaders identified goals that would make the organization a more lethal fighting force. Currently, there are five ongoing process improvement projects that will be individually highlighted in future stories.

With emerging requirements across the force to prepare for the future fight, the Air Force Reserve 913th Airlift Group is working toward a secure facility that will meet the demands of mission planning and intelligence research and analysis.

“In order to know what we are up against and to effective train, we need the proper facility and appropriate security cleared personnel,” said Capt. Nicolas Moore, 913th Operations Support Squadron director of intelligence. “We are working with a variety of agencies for the proper approvals and funding that will  advance our combat training for the entire installation.”

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr. released the CSAF Action Orders to Accelerate Change Across the Air Force in Dec. 2020. The action orders called for the force to continue to provide strategic deterrence and employ immediate global effects.

Necessitating the push to modernize the intelligence section and integrating realistic scenarios into mission planning in order to prepare aircrews to face a near peer threat. Ideally, a new facility would expand the space and use of classified computer systems, facilitate the development of tactics, techniques and procedures for the C-130J Super Hercules with next generation upgrades, collaborative intelligence training and Video Tele-Conference capabilities.

“To provide strategic depth to the fighting force the group identified the need to posture toward agile combat support,” James Henjum, group Process Manager. “Acquiring an appropriate secure facility and subsequent clearance positions ensures all of the units of Herk Nation can specifically shape training to take on future adversaries.”
